For a change, I took my Tokina 10-17mm lens into the water today for a bit of practice. Lots of underwater photographers have this lens and rave about it but I need a lot more hours with it before I think of as my default lens in UK waters. This is not a reflection on the lens, more a reflection on the photographer! My workhorse lens, which I use on 9 out of 10 dives, is a Canon 17-85 which I find very versatile. Lots of underwater photographers prefer a prime lens to a zoom as the glass quality is better. The Tokina 10-17 has very good glass quality, though, and it allows you to get very close to the subject indeed. It comes into its own photographing big animals and wrecks, neither of which are in evidence in Loch Fyne. However, here are a few other shots - a fireworks anemone, with sea pen to the left, and a long-clawed squat lobster.
