Spiny Squat Lobster
This is a spiny squat lobster from Loch Fyne last weekend. It is dumpier than the long-clawed squat lobster and much shyer. Commonly, spiny squat lobsters hang upside down under crevices and they are not often see out and about. This one, however, was obviously feeling brave. Though it did retreat very quickly - in fact it was backing off as I took the picture. The spiny squats have amazing colours and, as you can see, have spines on their claws!
